Fully
Completley Recording Notes
We had a 6-week recording session starting in July with Chris
Tsangarides. The first week was pre-production and the next five
were for real. Battery Studios is a fairly formal studio environment
and in a real building, unlike say Kingsway Studios in New Orleans,
which is located in an big old house. Chris, Wood and Sarah were
great folks in and out of the studio, as was the entire Battery staff.
Since we were going to England with a limited
amount of time with
which to record Fully, we prepared in advance as much as we could.
We were more than ready to make this record since we were ready
to go before Chris arrived on the scene.
Many of the songs we were already playing by the
end of the Road
Apples tour. In late April and early May of 1992 we made our first
trip to Australia and, because nobody really knew much about us
there, we played lots of the songs that would eventually end up on
FC. It was a great opportunity to try them out before heading over
to London in the summer.
The studio had rented us a flat near Marble Arch
tube station. This
is where we spent most of our time off since we usually ended our
days long after the pubs had closed. The Olympics were on in Seoul,
South Korea so we did our best to find out how the Canadians were
doing. British TV made this task rather difficult. For some reason,
BBC seemed more interested in British athletes and old-world events
like fencing. Sundays we played soccer in Regent抯 Park with our
European booking agent Nigel.
Chris Tsangarides had previously produced some
heavy records
for Ozzy Obourne, Judas Priest and Concrete Blonde. |
