Lone Support for Das Hips

During my hosting-a-college-radio-show days, circa 1991-92, the Hip were coming to a suburb of Philadelphia to play. My fellow DJ and I decided since the Hip were a predominant force in our show, we should go support them at their show. Well, the Hip were opening for Eric Johnson at the Tower Theatre. Remember him? No? It seemed the entire audience, except us, was there to see uberguitarist EJ doing whatever boring, soulless thing he was doing. During the Hip show, the boys could no doubt sense the lack of enthusiasm (except provided by the aforementioned two) towards their musical presentation. Being an opener is tough, but this was like hearing the crickets between songs. So we starting yelling between songs, calling band members by name, hooting and hollering as two fiery morons amongst lame crowd, offering support to our beloved band.
