Actually, I am ashamed to say that I was never really a fan of the Hip when I was younger. In University I met a guy who quickly became my friend. He was from the Ottawa region and like many of those in the valley, WORSHIPPED the Hip. One night, he and his friends lined up to get tickets and he offered to get some for me. I said no, something I regret to this day. I would have really enjoyed seeing the Hip live with him. As I have gotten older, I have come to love the Hip. I love how their lyrics have meaning (I'm so sick of guys singing about how depressed they are or how screwed their relationships are!), and in how they tell a little about Canadian History. It really makes me proud that they are a Canadian Band.As I listen to songs like Blow at High Dough, Little Bones, New Orleans is sinking etc... I think back to my time in Northern Ontario at a little university called Lakehead and my friend, who I miss dearly. Wonder where he is!?
