it only took 25 years

We decided on Kamloops for a road trip for show #2 on the Fully Completely tour. The show was AWESOME!!!!!! Seeing Fully Completely in it\'s entirety has strengthened my love and passion for this album that defines my life, and a generation,as I am sure it has done for many. After the show a handful of us waited behind the arena. There was a lovely security guard(can\'t remember her name) who kept going in and checking for us to see if any of the band members would be willing to come out. We waited for quite some time and eventually Rob Baker came out and agreed to chat with us. Actually getting to meet one of the 5 fathers of creation after all these years was amazing! My fellow fans had tons of stuff to have autographed, and I only had my camera with me. My hotel was across the street, so after the show(MY BIGGEST REGRET) I went and dropped off the Fully Completely tour poster that I had won through the Hip app(THANKS FOR THAT BTW!!!!!!!!!!),the boxed set,the puzzle, the setlist from the show, the toque, the lighter as well as my ticket. I didn\'t think this would actually happen, so I didn\'t bring ANY of it with me when I decided to go wander around the arena afterwards. We chatted about the upcoming album and I was able to get a picture with him. He was very kind and accommodating to us,and signed everything, and chatted with everybody at length. On his way back in we asked him if he thought Gord Downie might come out, and he said he would see what he could do. A few minutes later,a tall, lanky guy in a denim jean jacket and black hoodie came strolling out of the darkness. There he was, the Canadian Myth,Gord Downie !!!!!! All I remember thinking is \'HOLY SHIT !!!!!\" I have always joked with my husband that if I ever got the opportunity to meet Gord, he would have to be my voice because I was sure I would be rendered speechless, and my wingman was across the street at the hotel asleep. While I am way to old and happily married to be a groupie, I am enamored and mesmerized by the enigma that is Gord,as I know you all are. It has been number 1 on the bucket list to shake the hand of the man for 25 years, and I was never in the right place at the right time, until now. After he came over to us it\'s all really a blur for me. I shook his hand, and I think I told him that this was my number 1 on the bucket list and I\'m pretty sure I told him that this was completely surreal. I was talking when one of my new friends snapped the picture of us. I knew instantly it would be a bad picture of me so I asked him to please re take it(the second one was way better) I also knew that this picture, and the picture with Rob would be my revolving profile pictures on social media for as long as I choose to partake,so I wanted to make sure they were good ones. As if this was not surreal enough, one of my new Hip friends got down on 1 knee and proposed to his girlfriend, in front of Gord. While I was still trying to wrap my head around the fact that Gord was standing in our circle chatting with us,then THAT happened. I am only 2/5ths complete for # 2 on the bucket list, I still need 3 more pictures for my wall :) I didn\'t really have much of a chance to chat with Gord, it was a flurry of autographing, proposing chaos around him, and I was at a complete loss for words anyway. I am sure anything that I would have had the chance to say would have been stupid, so perhaps divine intervention saved me from that memory.(lol) Thanks so much for the most memorable Hip experience of my life, and congrats to my newly engaged Hip friends ! Thanks so much for the music that has punctuated my life for the last 25 years,Hip . I am sorry to see this tour come to a close but I have it on good authority that there........ is .......another............................
