I\'m American....so there. What I have found in The Hip is something so foreign, so non-American. I ask you what band could compose such a beautiful song as Bobcaygeon? Is there an American that knows where or what a Bobcaygeon is? It\'s doubtful unless you live in a border town or city. My point you ask? I cherish this band for their ability to convey what Canada is all about. This band did not sell its soul for the almighty American dollar, which I suppose it could have but it didn\'t. They remain uniquely Canadian. What\'s more, they have never taken advantage of their fans. Imagine KISS releasing 13 studio albums, one live album, a double disk greatest hits ( picked by the fans), four Gord Downie solo efforts, a smattering of vhs and DVD releases....all since 1987? Why do I bring this up? Simply because it\'s about the music, purely Canadian music. There hasn\'t been 74 different greatest hit compilations or crappy clobbed together money grabs. This band represents everything Canada stands for....honesty and a realistic, humble, no non-sense approach to a world view. In a country that sometimes seems to find it difficult in searching for its identity, the Hip have have been singing about all of the dominions glory since 1983. Congratulations Canada you have produced what just might be the purest, most honest band music has to offer.
