I have always loved music (a variety of) growing up in a house with a German born mother, a sister and brother born in the 50's, and another sister born in the 60's (me late 60's) - There were always so many different genres of music and I gravitated to them all but never found one that 'resonated' with me. I was 15 in 1985, on my way skiing (I live in a small town on Lake Ontario near Niagara Falls, NY) and it was a day that held no significance, except it was the first time I heard the Tragically Hip. I was drinking Malt Duck (Mom, plug your ears), and riding in a car with a friend and his older brother headed to Bond's Lake! and I heard a song - I CAN;T remember the name!!- but I remember the Canadian DJ saying 'the following song was recorded at '?' club the previous evening and then he played a blues type song and all I remember was thinking I LOVE THIS MUSIC!! Thus began my 'love affair' with the Tragically Hip. Since, I have followed them, gone to the concerts, had videos made of various concerts gone to, bought every single album, and I still can't get enough! Thank you Tragically Hip for your beautiful and artistically performed lyrics.
