Juno awards March 1991

Got tickets to the Junos from my brother in law who worked at CTV at the time. Great seats, great night seeing or meeting artists like Murray Mclaughlin, Colin James opened the show and was spectacular as was MC Hammer. My wife meet Jeff Healy in the foyer after most people were seated, she was ecstatic. We also had tickets to the apres show gala, saw Blue Rodeo in all their splendour, and then I notice at a table hanging out having a beer Paul Langlois and Rob Baker! To be honest I liked the Hip, from a distance. I am always intrigued to meet all kinds of people and see how they are on a human level, I have been turned off many performers I have either met, or seem interviewed that are douches and I have become less enthused about thier careers. Meeting these two Kingston boys was a breath of fresh air. First off, they introduced themselves to me, whoa, neat. I wanted to get a picture (sorry that must be a pain in the ass) but my camera wouldn\'t work for some reason. I frantically searched the ballroom for batteries, somehow miraculously finding some from a waiter. This took about half an hour, my wife and I returned to the table and Paul says \"hey Steve, where have you been did you find some batteries, let\'s get that picture\". Really genuine, great individuals. Since then I have followed your careers keenly. I have only seen two shows, Ivor Wynne Stadiums last show (shitty seats, but snuck down to the floors up front!) a few years ago and my highlight show up front in Kirkland Lake last year. What a venue to see The Hip. Thank you for the great times in my backyard over the years listening to your tunes, singing New Orleans is sinking a few times on stage in Kirkland Lake with Jamie Taylor and Rockslide, the long road trips that your music made bearable. Sorry for the long winded story here. Seeing all of you circle the wagons in this trying time is another testament to your great worth as human beings. Thank you for the great times. Steve
