I was 22 years old and driving across Canada from Victoria to Ontario on my motorcycle, a Suzuki GS850G (great bike) to spend the winter with my estranged dad, whom I\'d first met when I was 15. In late October. Bad timing for crossing the Prairies on a bike but in my defense, I\'d been having a good time in Vic, where there are many to be had. I\'d just broken off with love and it was scary, cold, lonely, desolate, awesome, and stomach-churningly exciting to be riding that long Hwy 1 into something unknown, where the stories had yet to be made. I had two tapes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_Cassette) for my Walkman and DFN was one of them. I played it \'til the tape broke and it became the soundtrack to my new love affair: traveling our home and native (unceded) land. Thanks boys. Your music has always been and will continue to be part of my story as I write it.
