I was 13. This was my first Hip show ever. One of many I\'ve seen scattered across Canada over the years. Crowd surfing. Drinking a Canadian. Under the moonlight next to the mighty Niagara river. My hometown. Surrounded by friends and family. This show is entrenched in Fort Erie\'s history now. Legendary. The Tragically Hip, played Fort Erie. It was amazing. A once in a lifetime spectacle. The energy was like an atomic bomb hit. A perfect night at Matters Arch and the friendship festival. And the boys were in fine form. I will never forget it. None of it. The show was incredible. I. Was sad it even ended. As Colin James came on it was getting late and time for me to meet my sister for a ride home. She was working at a restaurant just up the street in a corner called Keystone Kelly\'s. I was under joyed I had to cache the premises and go home leaving all the fun to my friends and family members. I begrudgingly made my way to The restaurant. There was a bit of a commotion at the doors when I reached my destination. A group was out side the door asking to come in for a drink and maybe some food. My sister was denying them. Then. I realized who they were. I could hear the plead to gain entry. \"These guys just got done playing the festival\" she had no care. Her tired feet being a one way thought on getting home. \"Yeah right.. Hold on there\'s my brother.. He was there.. Reuben! Did these guys just play the festival?? Are they any good??\" I replied in all honesty. \" yeah! They were awesome! Fuckin right it\'s them! Let them in!\" So. She finally had some belief that they were in fact who they claimed to be. We all went in and played pinball and ate the peanuts and had root beer. Well, I had root beer. It was amazing. I will never forget it. And even my sister brings it up once in a while. But I also know the whole town brings this night up all the time. Always will. The night the Hip played Fort Erie. Always.
