A fan for life

Having been a fan for the better part of my life, I was so excited to finally get my chance to see The Hip at a festival in Grand Prairie. They rocked! They exceeded all my expectations, at a festival to say the least. About 7 years later, I was able to catch their show in Calgary, where again they proved how talented a band they are and what a dynamic front man Gord Downie is. We I heard the news about Gord, my heart broke. Never before had I felt such a kinship towards someone I had never met before but there they were, tears in my eyes as I thought of the possibility of never getting to listen to a new hip album again and having to live in a world without this poetic soul. My heart broke again on the day tickets to the Man,Machine, Poem tour went on sale and sold out immediately. Luckily my wonderful husband was able to score the unscorable tickets and I was able to sing my heart out at their final Calgary show. What an amazing experience. It wasn\'t just about watching a great rock band put on a great rock show. It was about Canadians coming together to pay homage to an iconic group of men and their phenomenal front man. There was a bittersweet feeling in the air but overall, it was a love fest with everyone belting out the words. I cried during Its a Good Life If You Don\'t Weaken and I\'ll probably cry again onight during their final concert. Gord, Paul, Rob, Johnny and Gord; thank you for 32 years of music. Thank you for being uniquely Canadian. Thank you for being a band that all of us can identify with and thank you for giving us all the opportunity to say \"it\'s been a pleasure doing business with you\". Xo
