I remember seeing them the first time in 1988 at Carleton U when they performed for our frosh week. I was excited and scared to be away from home and going to school. I got my English degree. Then, I saw them again in 1992 in Winnipeg with Another Roadside Attraction. I was finishing my BEd. degree from UMan and was excited to get out in the world. The concert fueled my energy. While I was teaching in Guatemala, I was with some fellow Canadian and American teachers , plus some Peace Corps friends. We were visiting a remote mountain area and we were in a cabin. We were relaxing and sharing some music. I had a mixed tape. Everyone was enthralled when I played \'Wheat kings\'. The sound of the loons surprised them and the lyrics captivated them. They even rewound the beginning again. It was an awesome evening. I not only felt like a Canadian embassador but also like a Tragically Hip promoter. I felt proud.
