While living in Banff, I went for a tour to Calgary with a friend to the Silver Dollar Action Centre to see our favourite band. The venue was a bowling alley and after presenting our tickets at the door, we were led to the stage side of building (as opposed to the shoe rental desk). We were given tuck shop coupons for our meal of ham sandwiches and beer which everyone ate sitting at long picnic tables and benches. When we were filled and the lights began to dim, I joined the crowd of about 100 people to listen to the opener. I recall that when the Hip started to play, I told myself that I would never forget a moment of it, and as we all pressed against the stage and danced to what would become my favourite album, I was left with one amazing thought... I would always enjoy this band. And I have.
