Early Days

Saw the Hip for the first time in Cleveland at a club that has since been razed in favor of the Cleveland Indians' baseball stadium--Progressive Field. No more than 30 of us enjoyed a stellar show. THe Hip put it out there despite the small crowd. Gordie was completely in the zone that night. My wife asked if they would play BLOW as they hopped onstage. She would cartwheel thru our living room to that favorite of ours. They did in dedication to her. Later we hung out with the boys and they graciously signed a Road Apples poster that still graces our music room. Years later, on the eve of my wife's 50th birthday, I was able to get a note backstage to the Hip before their show at the Odeon in Cleveland (August 30, 2002). I was asking if they would consider playing BLOW for my wife's 50th birthday. When Gordie said,
