Road Apples Kept Me Playing

It's hard to believe thinking back that I've been involved in music in one way or another for over half my life. At age seven I woke up one summer morning in 1995 to find a neighbor lady hosting a garage sale. With a few scraps of allowance I ventured across the street to see what sort of goodies I could find. Knowing very well that my mother wouldn't approve, I bought a box of cassette tapes for only a couple of dollars, and hurried home to see if I could convince my mother to give me use of her stereo. Only with luck did she say yes. I don't ever remember being interested in music before that day, but I do know that there had always been music around our home, usually something between Travis Trit or AC/DC. There must have been fifty tapes in that box, I remember sitting on my knees, sticky from the summer heat looking at the spines trying to figure out what to listen to first. However I came to the decision I don't know, but I remember playing with the booklet while waiting for the tape to start. By the end of summer the tape had gone with me everywhere, and my uncle had agreed to give me his old Ludwig drum kit due to the the high interest I had showed in music - specifically the type of music that he too liked. Road Apples wasn't alone for long as my musical favorites, but it has always remained part of it. I've since moved on to lead vocals, and at age 22, I still enjoy performing covers from that '91 album to a crowd that is always appreciative of our bands song selection. Most of all I look forward to see in what direction each of the new records has gone and how the band is growing. Cheers!
