Got a ride from pops for this one.Took me, and 3 buddiesOver the border to UB. All new to meRemember Moxy Fruvous opening and a couple of other bands. Sister Carol was there too, but I was completely oblivious. Then Black Sheep came on and the rush of African Americans to the front. I'm from St. Catharines so being sixteen and very white, I had never experienced that.OH YEAH...School of Fish was there too. I remember Hippies passing inflatable fish. The mix of the crowd after Black Sheep and before the Hip was very mixed. I had a box cutter pulled on me while trying to get to the front while the Black Sheep crowd wsa exiting. Scared the shit out of me, but was way to0 jacked for the Hip...Now that I think of it, I had never in my life consumed alcohol to that point. I was living on natural adrenalin at that time in my life...interesting...Didn't need it back then. The Hip come on and I was floored...We had managed to get about 20 rows back center...Song after song of excellence I had heard on cassette tape being thrust upon us...There was crowd-surfing because I remember launching a thirteen year old kid about 4 rows ahead. Honestly, the years have left me bereft of too many memories, but I definitely remember Gord D being nailed in the head with a boot. Like a nice boot as I recall. And that was it...show over...after only like 13 songs...Rough crowd and I always remember the band saying that the sound at that venue was one of the worst they had ever had. Didn't matter to me...First show...Great time...memories.
